Bewerbung für MUN-Simulation der DGVN-NRW in Japan

One week as a Diplomat in Japan? Join DGVN NRW
for NMUN Japan 20-26 November in Kobe!

Interested in International Relations, the UN and East Asia? If so, the NRW-branch of the German United Nations Association (DGVN NRW e.V.) has a very interesting offer: Become a “Diplomat in Japan” for one week in late November of 2016!
We will take a group of students to the National Model UN (NMUN) Japan in Kobe, Japan, (http://www.nmun.org/nmun_japan16.html). There, our group will represent the position of a major East Asian nation, most likely including a seat at the Security Council, at a UN-simulation with ca. 250 other students from all over the world! A very exciting program is offered prior to and during the simulation: http://www.nmun.org/japan16_schedule.html

Some financial support is available upon request, efforts to acquire more financial support are undertaken. For an overview of costs and dates please consult http://www.nmun.org/japan16_costs.html

You will be prepared through a simulation beforehand as well as meetings in and around the UN-city of Bonn and in Berlin by a long-time NMUN Faculty Adviser. He will also help you with getting to know the rules, how to write a position paper, structure and workings of the UN, rhetorical skills, the role of your country at the UN, etc. Much of the preparation will take place online or on week-ends.
The program requires good English skills, participation in preparatory sessions, simulation and at the final presentation of results. Prior participation at Model UNs is helpful but not required. One meeting will definitely take place on the UN-day in Bonn on Saturday, October 22th.
More information about the NMUN-project can be found on the homepage of the National Model UN (www.nmun.org). The website of the DGVN NRW is www.dgvn-nrw.de

In March of 2015, our group participated at the NMUN in New York as delegation of the EU and joint part of the Polish delegation. Students had the chance to meet the EU-Ambassador to the EU, officials from the Polish and German Mission to the UN etc. The Closing Ceremony was hosted by Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon himself at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The preparation paid off: Our group received the “Distinguished Delegation”-award as the EU and also an “Honorable Mention” as part of the joint Polish delegation. Participants had the chance to make friends from all over the world and engage in lively discussions on various topics.
In November of last year our group represented Lithuania at the NMUN Europe in the Czech Republic, again winning two awards.
