19:00. Screening of the movies ‘J’annonce’ and ‘Life above all’

PlateForme Prévention Sida and Cinéma Aventure will organise the free screening of "J’annonce" and "Life above all" on the 29th of November at 19:00. J’annonce, 4 short films of the GRÉCOS (in presence of the authors) will be followed by Life above all, realised by Oliver Schmitz, based on the novel ‘Chanda’s Secrets’ from Allan Stratton and a closing cocktail. 16:30-18:00. ECDC/EMCDDA Scientific Seminar on Prevention and control of infectious diseases among people who inject drugs

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) will organise a scientific seminar dedicated to presentation of the joint ECDC and EMCDDA guidance: Prevention and control of infectious diseases among people who inject drugs published in October 2011, exploring seven interventions to reduce infectious diseases among people who inject drugs and ways to prevent HIV and related co-infections like hepatitis B and C. Belgian associations engaged in the fight against AIDS will distribute red ribbons to commuters and inform them about HIV/AIDS at main metro train stations in Brussels. 8:30-11:00. European Parliament oral debate and resolution on the EU global response to HIV/AIDS

To mark World AIDS day, the European Parliament will, during its mini plenary meeting in Brussels hold an oral debate and adopt a resolution on the EU global response to HIV/AIDS. This should be followed by a statement for World AIDS Day of the President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek MEP and by an awareness raising action in the European Parliament, coordinated by the office of Michael Cashman MEP. 10:15. Belgian Parliament hearing on AIDS

The Belgian Senate’s Committee on external relations and defence, together with the Committee on social affairs, will be holding a debate on the future of the global AIDS response. Speakers will include among others representatives from the Belgian Technical Cooperation, the Institute of Tropical Medicine, UNAIDS and Médecins Sans Frontières. 12:00-19:00. Animation Activities at Carrefour de l'Europe

For World AIDS Day activities in Brussels, the main meeting point will be Carrefour de l'Europe (Central Station). 17:00-19:00. Commemorating event for Judith Bisumbu at Free Clinic asbl

18:00. "The HIV Positive Night” Buffet

19:00-22:00. March and rally of solidarity with people living with HIV

Under samba rhythms, Belgian associations will be organising a march and rally of solidarity with people living with HIV. The march will be starting at Carrefour de l'Europe at 19:00 to end at 20:00 at the Grand-Place with a release of balloons in front of a mural painting symbolising the fight against AIDS. A reception will follow from 20:00 onwards at the Brussels City Hall to present a patchwork of names and messages of solidarity to remember those who died from AIDS, but also of hope for people living with HIV and their families.
