Tuesday 26 November, 14:00 - 15:30
European Development Days 2013, Auditorium A, Tour & Taxis

With only two years to go until the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals, global consultations and positions of leading development agencies on the post-2015 framework are calling for health to be placed at its core, as a critical contributor to sustainable development and human wellbeing.

This High-Level Panel organised as part of the 2013 European Development Days, featuring a keynote speech by Her Excellency Joyce Banda, President of Malawi, will debate how the post-2015 sustainable development agenda should build on and improve the current health Millennium Development Goals, addressing barriers to their achievement related to equity, human rights, financing and ownership.

Speakers at the event include:

  • Her Excellency Joyce Banda, President of Malawi
  • Anne-Marie Descôtes, Director-General of Globalisation, Development and Partnerships, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, France
  • Magatte Mbodj, Member of Parliament, Senegal
  • Charles Goerens, Member of the European Parliament
  • Dr Marleen Temmerman, Director for Reproductive Health and Research, World Health Organization
