Petitions Committee of the German Parliament - Petitionsausschuss des Deutschen Bundestages
The German parliament’s Petitions Committee performs also the role of the ombudsman and considers all types of petitions - request or proposals - submitted by citizens. If it is signed by more than 50,000 citizens, the Petitions Committee must engage with the petition in a public hearing. The right to petition is regulated by Article 17º of the Fundamental law (Grundgesetz Artikel 17).

There are also four regional Ombudsmen in Germany, for the federal states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Thüringen, Rheinland-Pfalz und Schleswig-Holstein.
