Journalists, NGOs and activists gathered last week in Vienna for an event on Safety and Security of journalists.
The Event was organised by UNESCO, the International Press Institute and the UN department Of Public Information.
Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, the Head of the Department of Public Information, who participated in the discussions as a moderator, told UN Radio's Maha Fayek that the event was a good opportunity for the participants to analyze with a critical eye, the causes of attacks against journalists in hot spot areas across the globe.
The Brussels based United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe - UNRIC provides information on UN activities to the countries of the region. It also provides liaison with institutions of the European Union in the field of information.
