ELYX SG Web UNRIC 430x275

For nearly a year, Elyx has been the United Nation's first digital ambassador. With a light touch and good humour, Elyx has been working tirelessly with the UN family to spread the word on global issues and raise awareness on International Days

Needing no words to communicate a view of the world, and having no race, age, nationality, or gender, Elyx, created by renowned French digital artist YAK, serves as a universal messenger for the ideals of the United Nations.

Last Friday 26 June, Elyx had the honour of meeting UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in San Francisco as a guest at the celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Charter of the United Nations.

Inspired by the text of the Charter that begins with the words ‘We the Peoples’, and in celebration of the UN’s 70th anniversary, Elyx will begin an exceptional journey ‘Around the world in 70 Days’. During this adventure, Elyx will travel across the globe to UN Country Offices as well as peacekeeping and humanitarian missions to meet as many people as possible to shine a light on the work of the UN around the world.

A journey around the world

Elyx’s 70 day journey will begin on 15 August 2015 and end on 24 October 2015 at UN Headquarters in New York City. It will travel through 70 countries on the five continents, visiting one country per day. The global adventure will be documented and followed on various social media channels using the hashtag #UN70
