The film tells the story of the only optometrist in Moldova, Norwegian Hans Bjørn Bakketeig. When Bakketeig first visited Moldova In 2001, it was common practice to simply hide visually impaired children away and leave them to their fate. The camera follows Hans Bjørn and his irrepressible assistant Tatjana during his consultations and as they journey across the countryside, where people are often too poor to afford glasses. While the duo struggles to expand their clinic, political chaos reigns in the country.

This film will be shown in partnership with OHCHR (The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights) and the Norwegian Embassy in Belgium at Cinema Galeries in Brussels.

The screening will be followed by a conversation with guest speakers: Hans Bjorn Bakketeig (Star of 'Moldovan Miracle’),  Ludmila Tiganu  (Communications Specialist, UNDP), Claude Cahn (Human Rights Adviser, OHCHR), moderated by Carlos Jimenez (UNRIC).
