On 5th February 2019, United Nations Cinema will be screening Under the Wire at CineWorld Dublin, Ireland.
The film is about the war-correspondent Marie Colvin and photographer Paul Conroy. On 13th February 2012, they entered war-ravaged Syria to cover the plight of civilians trapped in the besieged Homs, under attack by the Syrian army. Only one of them returned. Based on Conroy’s book Under the Wire, the film is a gripping account of the triumph of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity. This screening is organised in partnership with the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The screening will be followed by a conversation with guest speakers: Chris Martin, Director of 'Under the Wire'; Martina Feeney, Director Human Rights Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland; Saorla McCabe, Programme Specialist for the Division for Freedom of Expression, UNESCO; moderated by Caroline Petit, Deputy Director of UNRIC.
