UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution.
\nWe lead international action to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.
\nWe deliver life-saving assistance, help safeguard fundamental human rights, and develop solutions that ensure people have a safe place called home where they can build a better future. We also work to ensure that stateless people are granted a nationality.
\nWe work in over 130 countries, using our expertise to protect and care for millions.
\nThe Representation for EU Affairs (REUA) in Brussels covers and supports UNHCR\u2019s activities in Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The intern will work within the Protection Unit for Belgium and Luxembourg and will cover Luxembourg.<\/p>\n

What we offer<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Full-time six-month internship, from April 2021 (dates to be agreed).
\n\u2022 The intern will receive a Food and Local Transportation Allowance (FLTA), up to USD 1,000 per month, payable in local currency. The Food and Local Transportation Allowance is provided to non-sponsored interns only. In cases where a sponsored intern receives funding (less than the amount of allowance described above) from the sponsoring institution or another sponsor, UNHCR will pay the difference between this amount and the above allowance, if any.<\/p>\n

General description of internship<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Monitor and analyze Luxembourg asylum law and practice
\n\u2022 Research country of origin information and a variety of refugee and statelessness issues
\n\u2022 Draft a wide range of documents including reports and correspondence, and responding to information requests
\n\u2022 Write, edit and translate texts (in English, French and German\/Luxembourgish, according to native language)
\n\u2022 Assist with public information activities and the organization of events
\n\u2022 Provide administrative assistance and clerical support as may be required.<\/p>\n

Requisite educational and administrative criteria<\/strong>
\nIn order to be considered eligible for an internship, the following criteria must be fulfilled:
\n\u2022 Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate\/undergraduate school program, preferable in political sciences, law and\/or international relations, from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and
\n\u2022 Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.
\n\u2022 Be fluent in French and have an excellent command of written and spoken English. . Knowledge of German and\/or Luxembourgish will be an asset.<\/p>\n
