The UN SDG Action Campaign has released the latest MY World 360° film selection, which will be added to the MY World 360° playlist.

All immersive media included in the playlist reflect the priorities and perspectives of emerging artists from around the world, and offer viewers the opportunity to dive into otherwise unknown and distant realities.

Since 2018, the initiative has been organized by Digital Promise, Oculus and the UN SDG Action Campaign to collect stories about the key issues and priorities of people and communities worldwide in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to Rafael Romão, one of the creators of the new production ‘The Owners We Can’t See’ from Brazil, “it is really important that we use our efforts to echo the voices of those who experience the problems we want to address“.

Among the eight selected media pieces are stories about homeless people in Argentina, an interactive VR experience of polar warming, and a walk-through LGBTQI art community in India.

“The COVID-19 health crisis is affecting people across the planet and across all facets of life. It is also highlighting the importance of solidarity and the impact that our individual actions can have in shaping the world we live in”, said Marina Ponti, Global Director of the UN SDG Action Campaign.

This year’s edition of MY World 360° (submit), therefore, invites creative people to submit stories of positive action and active measures taken in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, and thus share their vision of a post-pandemic world.

According to Marina Ponti, “by capturing these stories of action, creators can bring the global community even closer together during these challenging times and inspire SDG action beyond the crisis”.

As many people are currently restricted in their freedom of movement, the organisers welcome the use of all types of media that can make a story immersive. They also encourage virtual teamwork and cross-border co-creation to foster collaboration and creativity.

Beginners, emerging and established artists can submit their work until 31 August to be considered for the next MY World 360° selection and to be presented at United Nations digital events.

To date, MY World 360º has compiled over 100 stories from around the world and has shown 19 officially selected films at United Nations events around the world.
