{"id":42480,"date":"2021-01-05T13:28:21","date_gmt":"2021-01-05T11:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unric.org\/en\/?p=42480"},"modified":"2021-01-27T13:47:54","modified_gmt":"2021-01-27T11:47:54","slug":"lundberg-appointed-un-resident-coordinator-in-montenegro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unric.org\/en\/lundberg-appointed-un-resident-coordinator-in-montenegro\/","title":{"rendered":"Lundberg appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"statement_head\"><strong>\u00a0United Nations Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres has appointed Peter Lundberg of Sweden as United Nations Resident Coordinator in Montenegro.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>Mr. Lundberg has more than 25 years of experience. He has experience in public, diplomatic, humanitarian and sustainable development service acquired both at the United Nations and externally.\u00a0 Within the Organization, he most recently served as Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator in north-east Nigeria from 2016 to 2018. There he took on the role of Acting Humanitarian Coordinator as required.<\/p>\n<p>After his assignment with the United Nations ended in 2018, Mr. Lundberg served in various positions. He was Head of his country\u2019s Regional Development Cooperation for the Middle East and North Africa region in Sweden\u2019s Embassy in Jordan. Furthermore, as Special Political Adviser on the Lake Chad Crisis in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>From SIDA to Zimbabwe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Before serving in the United Nations from 1990 to 2016, he held leadership positions with the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). This included Director for Humanitarian Assistance and Deputy Head of the Humanitarian Division. \u00a0He also worked with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) as External Relations Manager in Malaysia and Head of Delegation in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Lundberg also served as Sweden\u2019s Deputy Consul General and Vice Consul in Jerusalem. Earlier he was a non-commissioned officer in the Swedish Royal Navy.<\/p>\n<p>He holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in political, economic and social geography and international law from Uppsala University in Sweden. His studies had a strong focus on development.
