{"id":45378,"date":"2021-05-26T18:44:53","date_gmt":"2021-05-26T16:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unric.org\/en\/?p=45378"},"modified":"2021-07-16T16:51:59","modified_gmt":"2021-07-16T14:51:59","slug":"pathfinder-award-for-innovation-in-nature-conservation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unric.org\/en\/pathfinder-award-for-innovation-in-nature-conservation\/","title":{"rendered":"Pathfinder Award for innovation in nature conservation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the\u00a0International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) are excited to invite nominations for the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0iteration of the Pathfinder Award.<\/p>\n<p>The Award serves as a unique and timely opportunity to showcase best cases of conservation management models and promote solutions that generate co-benefits for all.<\/p>\n<p>With this award, we will celebrate, honour, and support individuals, groups, or organisations for their effective solutions that contribute to the success of protected and conserved areas. The 4\u00a0award winners will receive a financial grant of US$ 10,000 and a plaque and certificate of achievement, promotion and visibility, and an invitation to the awards ceremonies. As the gatherings of the three Rio Conventions (CBD COP 15, UNFCCC COP 26 and UNCCD COP 15) are set to take place within 2021 and 2022, winners will be selected in three categories and presented during each of the conferences.\u00a0 All eligible solutions will be published on the \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/panorama.solutions\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PANORAMA \u2013 Solutions for a Healthy Planet web platform\u00a0<\/a>and be promoted further through the PANORAMA initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The 2021\u00a0<strong>Pathfinder<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Award<\/strong>\u00a0seeks initiatives focused on sites with innovative, integrated approaches to protected and conserved area management that successfully conserve nature while making development gains related to:<\/p>\n<p>(A) Protected and conserved area solutions for innovative and outstanding conservation management practices that preserve human health (nominations open now)<\/p>\n<p>(B) Protected and conserved area solutions for innovative and outstanding use of technology for successful nature conservation (nominations open now)<\/p>\n<p>(C) Protected and conserved area solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation (nominations will open 15 June)<\/p>\n<p>(D) Protected and conserved area solutions for sustainable land management (nominations will open 15 June)<\/p>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>About the Pathfinder Award<\/h5>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Pathfinder\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Award\u00a0<\/strong>is designed to recognise outstanding solutions for protected and conserved areas developed and implemented by individuals, organisations or groups.<\/p>\n<p>UNDP and IUCN have partnered to highlight these success stories and ensure that these solutions received global attention and recognition.
