Trucks with food assistance and fuel have reached Tigray and Afar following the declaration of the humanitarian truce.<\/p>\n
After 17 months of conflict in Ethiopia, almost 40% of Tigrayans are suffering an extreme lack of food, according to\u00a0data<\/a>\u00a0released by the World Food Programme (WFP<\/a>). According to the\u202fTigray Emergency Food Security Assessment,\u202f83% of people are food insecure.<\/p>\n Conflict erupted in Tigray in November 2020 between federal troops and forces loyal to the Tigray People\u2019s Liberation Front (TPLF). The war spilled over into the neighbouring regions of Amhara and Afar, killing thousands of civilians, and displacing millions across northern Ethiopia, and into neighbouring Sudan.<\/p>\nThe situation in Ethiopia<\/h1>\n
