Monday, 26 February

The Secretary-General will be in to Geneva to attend the opening of the thirty-seventh session of the Human Rights Council and the Conference on Disarmament.

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on Burundi.

In the afternoon, the Security Council will hold consultations on the 1718 Committee.

In Geneva, at 12:00 p.m. in Room III, the Permanent Mission of Ecuador will hold a briefing on the Ecuador candidature to the Presidency of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly. The speaker will be H.E. Mrs María Fernanda Espinosa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Candidate.

At 1:30 p.m. in Room III, the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will hold a press briefing. The speaker will be Jorge Arreaza Montserrat, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

At 5:00 p.m. in Press Room 1, the Permanent Mission of Japan will hold a press briefing.

Tuesday, 27 February

In the morning, the Security Council is expected to adopt a resolution on the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS). It will also be briefed and hold consultations the Middle East (Yemen).

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

At 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room 5, there will be a briefing for Member States and NGOs on organizational matters, logistics and NGO participation related to the fifty-first session of the Commission on Population and Development, organized by the Population Division,
Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

Wednesday, 28 February

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the Middle East (Syria).

At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room B there will be a series of OHCHR Orientation Workshops for Diplomats co-organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

At 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room 11, there will be a briefing on the reports of the Secretary-General prepared for the fifty-first session of the Commission on Population and Development organized by the Population Division, the Department of Economic and Social
Affairs (DESA).

Thursday, 1 March

Today is Zero Discrimination Day.

At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room E, there will be a workshop entitled “Cyberspace and Cybersecurity Policy Issues, Risks and Strategies” co-organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Office of Information and Communication Technology (OICT).

At 3:00 p.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by Ambassador Karel van Oosterom, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for the month of March.

Friday, 2 March

At 10:00 a.m. in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, there will be an event entitled “World Wildlife Day: Big Cats - Predators Under Threat” on the occasion of the World Wildlife Day (3 March 2018) co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Gabon, Germany, Kyrgyzstan and Thailand, and UNDP, CITES, UNEP, UNODC, African Parks, Panthera, WCS and WWF.
