Today is International Day of Friendship. It is also World Day against Trafficking in Persons.

In the morning, the Security Council will receive a briefing and hold consultations on the 751/1907 Committee (Somalia/Eritrea).

At 10 a.m. in Conference Room 8, there will be a panel discussion on the theme “Stop trafficking in children and young people: a dire need to find sustainable solutions” co-organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus, the Group of Friends United against Human Trafficking, the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons and the anti-slavery NGO “Rani’s Voice”.

Tuesday, 31 July

At 9 a.m. in Conference Room 5, there will be a briefing on logistical matters for the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in Marrakesh, Morocco, on 10-11 December 2018, organized by the Permanent Mission of Morocco.

At 11.30 a.m., in S-237, there will be an end-of-presidency briefing by Ambassador Olof Skoog, Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for the month of July.

At 3 p.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by Ambassador Karen Pierce, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for the month of August.
