Thursday, 20 September
 
In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
 
At 10 a.m. in S-237, there will be a press briefing by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the Launch of the new 2018 Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI). Speakers will be: Mr. Achim Steiner, Administrator, UNDP; Mr. Selim Jahan, Director, Human Development Report Office, UNDP; and Ms. Sabina Alkire, Director, Oxford Poverty & Human Development Initiative.
 
In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on the Middle East.
 
At 12 p.m., in S-237, the Secretary-General will hold a press conference ahead of the high-level segment of the 73rd General Assembly General Debate.
 
At 1:15 pm in Conference Room 1, a high-level meeting organized by the UN Interagency Task Force on Religion and Development, the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID), and the European External Action Service will discuss the role of women of faith in peacebuilding.
 
In Geneva, at 11 a.m. in Press Room 1, the UN Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will present its Trade and Development Report 2018: Power, Platforms and the Free Trade Delusion. The speakers will be: Isabelle Durant, UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General and Richard Kozul-Wright – UNCTAD – Director – Division on Globalization and Development Strategies.
 
At 2.30 p.m. in Room III, the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism to Assist in the Investigation and Prosecution of Persons Responsible for the Most Serious Crimes under International Law Committed in the Syrian Arab Republic since March 2011(Mechanism) will brief on its second report to the General Assembly. The speaker will be Ms. Catherine Marchi-Uhel, Head of the Mechanism.
 
Friday, 21 September
 
Today is the International Day of Peace. At 9:00 a.m., in the Japanese Garden, the Secretary-General will take part in the annual Peace Bell Ceremony.
 
At 10:00 a.m., in Conference Room 12 – there will be an inter-agency Task Force on Financing for Development meeting (Contact: Peter Chowla Questo indirizzo e-mail è protetto dallo spam bot. Abilita Javascript per vederlo. ).
 
At 10:15 a.m., in the General Assembly Hall, the Secretary-General will take part in the General Assembly’s plenary meeting to pay tribute to former Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

The guest at the Noon Briefing will be the Humanitarian Coordinator in Afghanistan, Mr. Toby Lanzer.
 
Saturday, 22 September

Sunday, 23 September
 
Today is the International Day of Sign Languages.
 
At 12:30 p.m. the Secretary-General will hold a Facebook Live session ahead of the General Assembly High-Level Debate. It can be watched at:http://facebook.com/unitednations
 
At 1:30 p.m. the Secretary-General will meet with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocacy Group in his conference room.
 
At 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room 1, the event “Partnering to Address Acute Food Insecurity” will take place. The event is co-organized by the World Bank and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA). The Secretary-General and the President of the World Bank will deliver the opening remarks.
 
At 5:00 p.m. on the margins of the General Assembly, the United Nations, the African Union and the European Union will hold a trilateral meeting in the Secretary-General’s Conference Room.  
 
At 7:30 p.m. there will be a Sustainable Development Goals Partners event: “Bringing the Outside In” co-organized by the UN Office for Partnerships.
 
At 8:30 p.m. the  Secretary-General will attend the UN Global Compact Board welcome dinner.
 
Monday, 24 September 
 
At 8:00 a.m. in the UN Women Conference Room, Daily News Building, there will be a side event on “Global Winners for ‘SDGs and Her’ competitions for women micro-entrepreneurs helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.” The event is co-organized by UN Women, the World Bank, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Wharton School Zicklin Center.
 
At 9:00 a.m. in the Visitors Lobby, behind the ceremonial stairs, the Social Media VIP Space will open and will continue until Friday 28 September (Contact: Nancy Groves Questo indirizzo e-mail è protetto dallo spam bot. Abilita Javascript per vederlo. ).
  
At 9:30 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall, the Secretary-General will attend the High-Level Plenary Meeting on global peace in honor of the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela, known as the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit. The plenary will adopt a political declaration negotiated by Member States.

At 10:00 a.m. at Cipriani, 110 East 42nd Street, the HeForShe IMPACT Summit will take place. This event is organized by UN Women. Speakers will include award-winning Actress and UN Women’s Global Goodwill Ambassador, Anne Hathaway, who is set to issue a global call to action for gender equality during the Summit.
 
At 12:00 p.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, the Secretary-General will take part in the high-level event “Youth 2030: Launch of the United Nations Youth Strategy and the Generation Unlimited Partnership” co-organized by the Office of the Special Envoy on Youth, UNICEF, and the Department of Public Information.
 
At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 11, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (USG/ERC), Mark Lowcock, will chair the meeting “The Humanitarian Response in Yemen.”     
 
At 3:00 p.m. in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, the Secretary-General will convene the High-Level meeting on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
 
From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UNICEF and the governments of Denmark and the Philippines will co-host the “Addressing the Rights and Needs of Adolescent Girls in Crisis: Bridging the Policy and Programming Gap” in Conference Room 4.

At 5:00 p.m. in the Visitors Plaza, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (USG/ERC), Mark Lowcock will open the exhibit “UNDAC 25 Years – How Emergency Response Coordination has Evolved.”
 
Tuesday, 25 September
 
At 8:45 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall, the Sustainable Development Moment will take place. It will be immediately followed by the opening of the General Assembly High-Level General Debate which will include a moment of silence for former Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
 
At 9:00 a.m. in the first floor of the General Assembly building next to the delegates entrance, the Annual Treaty Event will take place and will continue until 28 September. The theme this year is the promotion of human rights through the multilateral treaty framework, highlighting the 70th anniversaries of Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Genocide Convention.
 
From 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Conference Room 5, there will be a High Level Humanitarian Event on South Sudan, moderated by Mark Lowcock, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.
 
At 1:15 p.m., the Secretary-General will host the annual luncheon for the Heads of Delegation to the 73rd Session of the General Assembly.
 
At 3:00 p.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, there will be a high-level meeting on Action for Peacekeeping “Our Collective Achievements and Reaffirming our Commitment to Peacekeeping,” an initiative launched by the Secretary-General in March 2018 to strengthen peacekeeping through collective action. The Secretary-General will address the event.
 
At 4:00 p.m., in Conference Room 4, the High-level side event on the UN LGBTI Core Group “Violence against LGBTI Individuals” will take place.
  
Wednesday, 26 September
 
Today is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
 
At 8:00 a.m. Mark Lowcock, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator will moderate the “Safe and Respected:  Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment in the Humanitarian Sector” event in Conference Room 11. The event will be co-hosted by the United Kingdom.
 
At 8:30 a.m. at the Plaza Hotel, the Bloomberg Global Business Forum on Climate will take place.
 
From 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. the European Union, Belgium and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs will co-host the event “Civilians Under Fire: Humanitarian Protection and Respect for International Humanitarian Law” in Conference Room 1.

At 9:15 a.m. in the Economic and Social Council Chamber,  the Secretary-General will attend the High-level Informal Meeting of the plenary to commemorate and promote the “International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.”

At 10 a.m. in the Security Council Chamber, the Secretary-General will attend the High-Level Meeting on the Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
 
At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 4, the high-level meeting on the fight against tuberculosis will take place. The theme this year is “United to end tuberculosis: an urgent global response to a global epidemic.”
 
At 11:00 a.m. the Secretary-General will take part in the Informal High-Level Leaders Dialogue on Climate Change: Implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change: Towards COP24 and Beyond, in Conference Room 7.
 
At 11:15 a.m. in Conference Room 2, there will be a high-level side event on “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights: A Prevention Tool to Achieve Peace and Sustainable Development”. The Secretary-General will attend this event co-organized by France, Germany, Costa Rica, the Republic of Korea and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
 
At 1:00 p.m. in Conference Room 1, the Secretary-General will chair “The Central Emergency Response Fund: A Fund for All by All” ministerial-level meeting.

At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 12, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Relief Coordinator Ursula Mueller Ursula Mueller and UNDP Assistant Administrator Asako Okai will co-host the “Partnering with the Private Sector: How Data Can Improve Humanitarian Response” event.
 
Also at 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 9, the Accelerating Efforts to Eliminate Child Marriage in Africa by 2030 event will take place. This event is co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of Zambia and Canada, in partnership with UNICEFUNFPA and UN Women. Speakers include: Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia; Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic; Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe; Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister for International Development, Canada; Amina J. Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General; Natalia Kanem, UNFPA Executive Director; Åsa Regnér, Deputy Executive Director, UN Women; and Fatoumata Ndiaye, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, among others.
 
At 1:45 p.m. in the South Dining Room, the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) Pledging Event will take place. Speakers include: Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President, Iceland; Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain; María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, President of the General Assembly; Ana Maria Menéndez, UN Under Secretary General and Senior Advisor on Policy; Angel Gurría Secretary General, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women; Guy Ryder, Director General, International Labour Organization; among others.
 
At 2:00 p.m. in Conference Room 2, the Secretary-General will attend the high-level event on the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration entitled “Road to Marrakech.” The event is co-sponsored by the Governments of Brazil and Canada.
 
Also at 2:00 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel, the One Planet Summit high-level event on Climate Change will take place. The event is being co-organized by the Government of France and the UN.
 
At 3:00 p.m. the side event “The Collection, Use and Sharing of Evidence for Purposes of Criminal Prosecution in Terrorism Cases’ will take place. The event is organized by the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Association of Prosecutors.
 
From 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. there will be a high-level meeting on Mali and the Sahel in Conference Room 3. The Secretary-General is expected to open the inaugural segment of the meeting.
 
At 5:00 p.m. the Secretary-General will attend the UNESCO high-level Panel on “Countering Anti-Semitism: The Power of Education” in Conference Room 2.
 
Thursday, 27 September
 
Today is World Tourism Day.
 
At 8:00 a.m. in Conference Room 1, the European Union (EU) and the United Nations are announcing a EUR 50 million investment to end femicide in Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. Speakers include: Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, UN; Federica Mogherini, High Representative, EU; Neven Mimica, Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, EU; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women; and Cecilia Suárez, Mexican Ariel Awardee and Emmy International nominated actress.
 
Also at 8 a.m. in the Delegates Dining Room, there will be a High-level Ministerial Breakfast Event: Adapting to Climate Change — Empowering women, co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions of Finland and Tanzania, in partnership with UN Women, the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and others. Speakers include: Anne-Mari Virolainen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Finland; Åsa Regnér, Deputy Executive Director, UN Women; Monique Barbut, UNCCD Executive Secretary; Petteri Taalas, Secretary-General, WMO; Tarja Halonen, UNCCD Drylands Ambassador, Former President of Finland; among others.
 
At 10:00 a.m. the Secretary-General will attend the opening ceremony of the Forty-Second Annual Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 in the ECOSOC Chamber.
 
At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 4, the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases will take place.
 
At 11:00 a.m. the Secretary-General will speak at a ministerial level meeting on Somalia taking place in Conference Room 6.
 
At 3:00 p.m. the Secretary-General host, along with China, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, an informal meeting on Myanmar in Conference Room 9.
 
At 3:00 p.m. at the Maxwell Hotel (542 Lexington Avenue), there will be a side event on public-private efforts to address terrorist content online: a year of progress – what’s next? The event is co-hosted by  the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) and the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism.
 
From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Conference Room 8, there will be a meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), a 15-member committee that serves as the principal policy-level coordination mechanism for development assistance to the Palestinian people.
 
At 4:00 p.m. there will be the high-level ministerial meeting on the Central African Republic, in Conference Room 7, co-chaired by the Secretary-General. The meeting will be convened in partnership with the European Union and the World Bank.
 
At 5:30 p.m. at Thomson Reuters (3 Times Square) there will be an event on the role of the media in reporting on LGBT+ people. The event will be moderated by CNN anchor Don Lemon and is organized by the UN LGBTI Core Group with Thomson Reuters.

At 6:00 p.m., in the Delegates Dining Room, there will be an event on ‘Accelerating the Women’s Movement for Peace and Humanitarian Action: Innovating & Challenging the Status Quo.’ This is a Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) event, co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of Australia, Canada, Ireland, the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders, Cordaid, UNFPA and UN Women. Speakers include: Natalia Kanem, Executive Director, UN Population Fund; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women; Mavic Cabrera Balleza, CEO, Global Network of Women Peacebuilders. Today is the International Day for Universal Access to Information as well as World Rabies Day and World Maritime Day.
 
At 9:00 a.m., the Secretary-General will take part in the annual meeting of the Pacific Island Forum in Conference Room 8.
 
At 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room 1, there will be an event on ‘Promoting Gender-Responsive Migration Governance through the Global Compact for Migration’ co-organized by the  Permanent Missions of Liechtenstein, Mexico, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UN Women. Speakers include: Louise Arbour, Special Representative for International Migration; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women; Acosta Vargas, Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW); Craig Mokhiber, Director of New York Office, OHCHR; Lucila Granada, Director of the Latin American Women's Rights Service (LAWRS) and member of the Women in Migration Network (WIMN); and Aurelia Frick, Foreign Minister, Liechtenstein.
 
At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 9, the Secretary-General will attend the High-Level Steering Group for Every Woman Every Child.
 
At 11:15 a.m., in Conference Room 7, there will be a side event on the transition from peacekeeping to peacebuilding and development in Darfur. The event will be co-chaired by the Deputy Secretary-General and the African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security.
 
From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. there will be a high-level meeting on the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Conference Room 8.
 
Saturday, 29 September
 
From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Conference Room 5, the annual ASEAN-UN Ministerial Meeting (AUMM) will be held, with the participation of the Secretary-General.
