Saturday, 29 September

At 9:00 a.m. the fifth day of the General Assembly General Debate will begin in the General Assembly Hall.

At 10:00 a.m. in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, the fourth session of the Assembly of the Small Island Developing States DOCK (SIDS DOCK) will take place. This is organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Seychelles.

From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Conference Room 5, the annual ASEAN-UN Ministerial Meeting (AUMM) will be held.

Today is International Translation Day.

Monday, 1 October

Today is the International Day of Older Persons.

Today is World Habitat Day.

The Secretary-General arrives in New Delhi, India. His visit coincides with the beginning of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi on 2 October 2019. In the evening he will formally open the new UN House in New Delhi.

In New York, at 3 p.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by the President of the General Assembly, Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa. She will brief reporters on the recent High-Level Week and discuss her priorities for the 73rd session of the General Assembly.

In Geneva, at 11:30 a.m. in Press Room 1, the UN Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), will present the Review of Maritime Transport 2018.

Tuesday, 2 October

Today is the International Day of Non-Violence.

In New Delhi, the Secretary-General will participate in the closing session of the Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention. He will also meet with the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Sumitra Mahajan, before giving an address at the India Habitat Centre on Global Affairs on the theme, “Global challenges, global solutions.” In the evening, the Secretary-General will take part in the General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance.

In New York, at 10:00 a.m. in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, the event entitled “Non-violence in Action” will take place, on the occasion of the International Day of Non-Violence. This event is organized by the Permanent Mission of India.

At 10.30 a.m., in S-237, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), will hold a joint press briefing to announce a partnership between the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa, UN Habitat, UNODC and UNESCO in the upcoming Africities Youth Forum in Marrakech, Morocco on the 20-24th of November 2018.

Wednesday, 3 October

In New Delhi, the Secretary-General will meet with President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. In the afternoon, he will visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

In New York, at 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 8, the High-level roundtable on “Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development as a Catalyst for Change through Partnership: in the Run-up to the High-level Political Forum under the Auspices of the United Nations General Assembly” will take place. This event is co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Azerbaijan, Belarus and the Russian Federation.

At 12:30 p.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by Ambassador Sacha Llorenty, Permanent Representative of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and President of the Security Council for the month of October.

At 1:15 p.m. there will be a briefing on the Work of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

At 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room 9, there will be an event entitled “Drug-free Programs: Russian NGOs’ Experience” organized by the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation.

Thursday, 4 October

The Secretary-General returns to New York today.

At 10:00 a.m. in the Economic and Social Council Chamber, there will be an event entitled “Celebrating Older Human Rights Champions” on the occasion of the Observance of the

International Day of Older Persons. This event is co-organized by the Department of

Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the NGO Committee on Ageing, the Group of Friends for Older Persons, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Permanent Mission of Argentina.

The guest at the Noon Briefing will be Mr. Ali Al-Za’tari, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Syrian Arab Republic.

At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room 12, there will be a briefing on the Preparations for the fourteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice co-organized by Permanent Mission of Japan and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Friday, 5 October

Today is World Teachers’ Day.

At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 9, there will be briefing on the work of the Inter-Agency Coordination Group Against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) co-organized by the ICAT and the Permanent Mission of Belarus.
