Monday, 17 December

In the morning, the Security Council will hold a debate on the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on its subsidiary organs and on the 1591 Committee.

At 1:15 p.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, there will be an event to mark The Global Compact on Refugees entitled “A Model for Greater Solidarity and Cooperation” organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

At 2:15 p.m., UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Filippo Grandi, will brief reporters at the stakeout area on the 2nd floor, between the Trusteeship Council and ECOSOC Chamber.

Tuesday, 18 December

Today is International Migrants Day and Arabic Language Day.

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the Middle East.

At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 1, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) will give its quarterly briefing to Member States.

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and South Sudan sanctions. 

Wednesday, 19 December

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on the Middle East.

The guests at the Noon Briefing will be Mr. Mourad Wahba, UN Development Programme (UNDP) Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States and UN Assistant Secretary-General; Ms. Asako Okai, Director for the UNDP Crisis Bureau and UN Assistant Secretary-General; and Ms. Ursula Mueller, UN Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator and UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs.

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on peace and security in Africa: drug trafficking in West Africa as a threat to stability.

Thursday, 20 December

Today is International Human Solidarity Day.

In the morning, the Security Council is expected to adopt a resolution on United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF). It will also be briefed and hold consultations on the Middle East (Syria).

The guest at the Noon Briefing will briefing will be Mr. Ibrahim Thiaw, Special Adviser of the Secretary-General for the Sahel.

In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on peace and security in Africa: United Nations Integrated Strategy for the Sahel (UNISS), an integrated response to peacebuilding and sustaining peace in the Sahel.

Friday, 21 December

In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed and hold consultations on the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS).
