On Monday, 23 September, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is hosting the 2019 Climate Action Summit to boost ambition and accelerate action to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Access: A very limited number of tickets will be available for the press gallery of the General Assembly Hall during the Climate Action Summit. The Media Liaison Desk on the 3rd floor will distribute tickets on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before each session of the Summit begins. Photographers and videographers do not require separate tickets and will be escorted to designated media booths, where available. Media with TV/video equipment must be cleared via the ramp on the east side of the General Assembly Building.

Details: The Private Sector Forum — organized by the UN Global Compact and partners as the high-level luncheon of the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit — is where CEOs will join the UN Secretary-General and Heads of State to recognize ambitious climate action, including the announcement of those leaders who have joined the newly launched Business Ambition for 1.5˚C campaign. Pollution Pods Art Installation

Where: North Lawn of UN Plaza

Details: As part of the Clean Air Initiative, in which governments must commit to making our air safe by 2030 at the latest, and to encourage urgent action on climate change for the sake of our health, the World Health Organization (WHO) is urging world leaders, youth activists and the media to walk through this viscerally powerful art installation, created by British artist Michael Pinsky. Visitors to the Pollution Pods at the UN will experience the sensation of air pollution for a few minutes, but breathing toxic air is the reality for millions of people every day of their lives.

SDG Action Zone 

Where: Rose Garden

When: 23-27 September

Details: The SDG Action Zone will be a dedicated event space in the Rose Garden of the UN during the UNGA high-level week for all stakeholders implementing, advancing, engaging and accelerating transformative action towards the SDGs. The vision is to integrate various sectors and stakeholders in an innovative manner that facilitates collaboration and breaks through silos.
