MEDIA ADVISORY: Media accreditation for UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is now open
Media representatives are invited to for accreditation to the UN Climate Change Conference COP28, which will be held from 30 November to 12 December 2023 at Expo City Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will feature both in-person and virtual elements. However, only journalists attending the press conferences in person will be able to pose questions. Those who have registered for the conference but are unable to come to the venue will be able to follow the negotiations via the digital platform in accordance with their badges. Media representatives participating remotely may wish to register as virtual-only participants and use the digital platform to connect and schedule virtual meetings with other COP28 participants.
Remote participants not registered will be able to watch broadcasts of plenaries and open events on the UN Climate Change website. More information will be posted at https://unfccc.int/cop28 as it becomes available.
The UN Climate Change secretariat has introduced changes to its conference registration process to increase transparency.
Online registration is the only official channel for media representatives to apply for accreditation to this conference. The secretariat is not in a position to receive applications sent by any other method, e.g. e-mail, fax or letter. Requests for technical support can be sent to [email protected].
The UN Climate Change secretariat is expecting a large volume of media accreditation requests. Media representatives are therefore encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible to avoid processing delays and in order to make all necessary technical preparations.
How to apply for media accreditation:
1. Go to the Online Registration System https://onlinereg.unfccc.int/
2. Options to either login or create an account are located in the top-left corner. If you already have an account, you can log in with your existing credentials. If you need to create a new account, you will receive log-in credentials during that procedure
3. Log in with your e-mail address and password
4. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, select “COP28” as the current meeting
5. Edit your personal information and select your badge type. If you are planning to participate remotely, please select the newly introduced option “virtual-only”
6. Upload the required documentation and click on “Submit application”
The application will be submitted to the UN Climate Change secretariat for verification. While the secretariat will endeavour to issue accreditations as soon as possible, in busy periods this may take up to 5 (five) days. Please bear with us during this time.
Please ensure you correctly follow the steps above and all requested data and documentation is correctly entered and submitted. Missing or incomplete documentation will significantly increase the accreditation processing time.
Once you have received confirmation of your accreditation, you will be registered for the conference and receive a Registration Acknowledgement Form.

About the UNFCCC
With 198 Parties, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has near universal membership and is the parent treaty of the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement.
