UN and EU leaders to discuss closer cooperation at High-level dialogue in Brussels, 13-14 July

On 13 and 14 July, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, along with other senior UN officials, will participate in a second working retreat with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and 11 members of the College in Brussels.

The UN and the European Commission will discuss key challenges and priority areas for joint action, including climate ambition, peace and security, the digital transition as well as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and reforms of the international financial architecture.

The retreat will provide an opportunity to identify concrete steps to implement ‘Our Common Agenda’ proposed by the Secretary-General towards more effective and inclusive global governance and to strengthen cooperation in promoting and advancing human rights worldwide.

The meeting will also serve as a platform to prepare for the upcoming High-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, including the SDG Summit.

Secretary-General Guterres and President von der Leyen will deliver a press statement today at 19:00 CEST. You can follow it LIVE on UN Web TV.
