Agency Overview

CIFAL Flanders is an Antwerp-based centre of expertise on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offering trainings, project development and coaching. It promotes peace, human rights and sustainable development and the declarations, principles and guidelines of the United Nations, with focus on the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs.

Partnerships

CIFAL Flanders is embedded in the United Nations framework, as an affiliate to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). UNITAR was created in 1963 and provides innovative learning solutions to individuals, organisations and governmental institutions to enhance global decision-making and support country-level action for shaping a better future.

CIFAL Flanders is part of the CIFAL Global Network, UNITAR’s network of international training centres providing action based learning throughout the world and serving as a hub for the exchange of knowledge amongst governmental officials, the private sector, higher education and civil society.

Services and Programs

CIFAL Flanders is devoted to strengthening a just transition towards a sustainable society and economy through capacity building of all actors in society.

Depending on the learning objectives, target audience, and duration, CIFAL Flanders offers you and your organisation a tailor-made training. These can take the form of an in-company training, seminars, workshops, e-learnings, guest lectures, and public lectures.

One of CIFAL Flanders main services is the PCA-2030 Trajectory. PCA stands for SDG Pioneer, SDG Champion, and SDG Ambassador. They reflect three levels of ambition in our PCA2030 Trajectory for realising the SDGs. 2030 refers to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs. Trajectory concerns the path on which organisations embark to learn, implement and communicate on the SDGs. Each ambition level is rewarded by a UNITAR Training Certificate of Completion.

Between 2013 and 2023, CIFAL Flanders has reached significant milestones including the development of impactful Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) tools, the publication of notable works, and the establishment of collaborations with esteemed partners. Notably, there has been substantial global exchange with other CIFAL centers and noteworthy expansion of CGN.

A particularly rewarding aspect has been motivating participants to elevate their sustainability strategies. The impact of our efforts is discernible across multiple facets, notably through our influence on trainees and lectures, thereby enriching the comprehension of sustainable development on a broader scale.

CIFAL Flanders is actively sharing expertise on sustainable development through various publications, notably the Start-to-SDG Guide, which has garnered over 1,200 downloads, aiding effective SDG implementation. Additionally, our partnership with Flanders Investment & Trade has distributed over 1,500 copies of a guide on International Corporate Social Responsibility. Our latest resource, the updated Start-to-SDG Guide, offers 90 FAQs on SDGs, supporting organisations in their sustainability endeavors.
