To mark the entry into force of the Charter of the United Nations (UN) in the fall of 1945, “United Nations Day” is celebrated every October in Bonn.
For about 50 years, Germany has also been among the nations that champion the principles of the United Nations with enthusiasm and idealism and tackle global challenges; in 1973, both of the former German states joined the UN at a General Assembly in New York.
