5 December: Launch of fourth UNESCO Global Report on Adult Learning and Education

On 5 December 2019, the fourth Global Report on Adult Learning and Education (GRALE 4) will be launched in Brussels, Belgium. Based on data from 159 countries, the report assesses global progress in adult learning and education (ALE). It calls for a sea change in approach, backed by adequate investment, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to access and benefit from adult learning and education and that its full contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is realized.

The international launch is organized by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, the Lifelong Learning Platform and the EU Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion within the framework of Lifelong Learning Week 2019, ‘Learning Democracy, Values and Participation’.

Among the speakers will be Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, David Atchoarena, Director of UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, Gina Ebner, Secretary-General of the European Association for the Education of Adults, MEP Gunther Sidl, Member of the European Parliament and of the Parliament’s Lifelong Learning Interest Group, Manuela Geleng, Director for Skills in the DG EMPL of the European Commission, and Education Ministers of selected countries.
