Ciné-ONU screening: A Thousand Cuts

As part of the Social Media 4 Peace initiative, the United Nations invites you to A Thousand Cuts – 29 June, 2 p.m. CET

A thousand cuts film posterThe film tells the story of Maria Ressa, journalist and co-founder of the online news site Rappler in the Philippines and her investigative journalism fighting for truth and democracy against social media disinformation campaigns in her country. Recently awarded with the UNESCO Guillermo Cano Price for her work and engagement for press freedom, Maria Ressa will join the debate following the screening.

After a short introduction from Louise Haxthausen, Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office in Brussels, there will be a Q&A with…

How to Participate

The event involves an online screening of the award-winning film #AThousandCuts, followed by a panel discussion.

Step 2: At 2pm (CET) on 29 June, click on the Zoom link to join the event.

This event will provide an opportunity to discuss how to strengthen the resilience of societies to the spreading of online harmful content on social media, and promote peace narrative rather than hate, the objectives of the new UNESCO project Social Media 4 Peace
