Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has announced that Denmark has decided to disburse all planned funding to UNRWA early this year. The amount is over €14million.

“UNRWA is an indispensable lifeline for Palestinians in Gaza & the region,” the Foreign Minister wrote on X. “Continued support is essential especially with UNRWA under intense pressure. Urge more to follow.”

In 2023 Denmark and UNRWA, the United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency signed a Multi-Year Agreement (MYA) for the 2023-2027 period, with a contribution of DKK 105 million (US$ 15.2 million) each year, for a total of DKK 525 million (US$ 75.2 million).

According to the agreement, the Danish contribution will support core services for Palestine Refugees in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip. The Palestine Refugee Agency services include primary health care, quality, inclusive education, social protection services, infrastructure and camp improvement and protection.

UNRWA: New agreement with Norway

Last year Norway also signed a new two-year agreement with UNRWA. Under the agreement, Norway provides core funding of NOK 175 million ($17.3 million) per year for the period 2026–2027.
