Denmark has renewed its partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through a contribution of USD 53,3 million (DKK 350 million) towards UNDP’s work to tackle global development challenges.

This significant investment includes USD 19 million (DKK 125 million) for UNDP’s flexible ‘core’ resources, and USD 34.3 million (DKK 225 million) for the Thematic Funding Windows on Governance, Peacebuilding, Crisis as well as Resilience, and Nature, Climate and Energy.

Denmark: A core donor to UNDP

As one of UNDP’s top core donors, Denmark plays a vital role in enabling UNDP to accelerate sustainable development progress in 170 countries and territories, ensuring that resources are swiftly directed where they are most urgently needed.

The support from Denmark will strengthen UNDP’s work for climate action, nature preservation, poverty reduction, and advancing inclusive and accountable governance systems. As crises – from conflicts to climate disasters – continue to disrupt lives worldwide, flexible ‘core’ funding enables UNDP to respond quickly, protect development gains, and build resilience in fragile contexts. This is crucial for saving lives and protecting livelihoods. UNDP’s support to those in some of the hardest-hit areas, whether in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, the Sahel and beyond – is made possible thanks to flexible funding.

UNDP: One of the most transparent organizations

In addition to enabling sustainable development results, regular ‘core’ resources enable UNDP’s oversight functions and help ensure that the organization can continue to provide programmes effectively and efficiently while upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency. UNDP is consistently rated among the most transparent international organizations.

UNDP greatly appreciates the strong partnership with Denmark and looks forward to continuing the close collaboration as we work together towards a more equitable and prosperous world, where no one is left behind.
