The United Nations Photo Library holds a collection of over 800,000 photographs produced by the UN Photo Unit and worldwide UN photographers and partners dating back to the inception of the Organization in 1945. The photo collection chronicles the history of the Organization and its global field work. The unique collection includes coverage of historic UN meetings and events at the UN Headquarters in New York, the UN Secretary-Generals and senior officials, as well as a wide array of field missions and assignments from its earliest days.

The Photo Library provides clients with on-line or on-site research and referral services about UN photo collections, as well as on-demand requests for high-resolution images. It also licenses United Nations photos for a wide range of commercial or non-commercial uses. Requests can be made for use in professional news, publications, features, educational, multimedia pieces, and other productions by filling out the online form. The Photo Library makes its collection available to media organizations, publishing companies, governments and non-governmental organizations, researchers and civil society at large, in order to foster public understanding of the work of the United Nations and its goals.

Please contact the Photo Library by email at [email protected] for any requests and inquiries. Requests are fulfilled in the order received
