The Wave

On the occasion of World Tsunami Awareness Day (5 November), Ciné-ONU screened ‘THE WAVE‘.

A 2015 Norwegian drama about a small town hit by catastrophe when the face of a nearby cliff breaks off into the fjord and produces an 80-meter-tall tsunami that destroys everything in its path. Directed by Roar Uthaug.

 

 

 

A discussion followed the screening, with:

  • Ms. Stéphanie Girardclos, Department of Earth Sciences / Environment Sciences Institute (ISE), University of Geneva
  • Ms. Petra Nemcova, Top model/activist and survivor of the 2004 Tsunami
  • Moderated by Mr. Daniel Johnson, United Nations Information Service
