From a family of nearly five generations of fishermen, UNEP’s Young Champion of the Earth, Lefteris Arapakis from Greece, decided to break the cycle. Instead of following in his family’s footsteps and becoming a fisherman, Lefteris opened the first fishing school in Greece.
Soon, that project became a way to help to remove plastic from the sea, training fishing communities to fish for plastics.
But what to do with the plastic they had retrieved? In this episode, Lefteris explains the process as an inspiration for us to learn how to think outside the box.
