Agency Overview

IFAD is an international financial institution and specialized UN agency that invests in rural people. With this, they can enhance their food security and increase their incomes. IFAD works in the most remote regions of developing countries where poverty and hunger are deepest. With most of the world’s poor depending on agriculture for a living, we provide small-scale farmers with the support they need to grow and earn more, in turn reducing poverty. Our work also promotes gender equality, builds the capacity of local communities and strengthens resilience to climate change.

IFAD Representation in Brussels

The representation in Brussels advances IFAD’s global mission by fostering strategic partnerships and engagement with the government of Belgium and the European Union institutions, including the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.  Furthermore,  IFAD’s Brussels representation endeavours to collaborate with other key stakeholders and partners in Belgium including the Permanent Missions to the EU, the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States, civil society organizations, academic institutions, think tanks, and financial institutions.
