UNU is a global think tank and academic arm of the UN. UNU-ViE is the only UNU Vice Rectorat outside of Japan and has been in Bonn since 2007. It supports the institutional growth of UNU worldwide and coordinates UNU activities in Europe and Africa. In addition to its research focus, UNU ViE is also committed to education and teaching and since 2013 it offers the Master’s programme “Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security“ jointly with the University of Bonn.
