The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, held a coordination meeting with H.E. Mr. Yamazaki Kazuyuki, Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations and the President of the Security Council for the month of March 2024.
Ambassador Yamazaki briefed the President on the upcoming work of the Security Council during Japan’s Presidency, highlighting Japan’s signature event on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. The Foreign Minister of Japan is expected to chair the meeting.
President Francis and Ambassador Yamazaki further discussed the need for the Security Council reform to take into account and better reflect the realities of today’s world.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on 4 March 2024.
