Deadline: 3 September 2023

The ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau has opened nominations for the 2023 EQUALS in Tech Awards. The annual awards, marking their 10th anniversary, recognize initiatives around the world working to bridge the gender digital divide. Initiatives can be large or small, and nominees are invited from individuals and organizations of all nationalities and languages.

The awards categories include Access (improving women and girls’ digital technology access, connectivity, and security), Skills (supporting STEM skills development for women and girls), Leadership in Tech (promoting women in decision-making roles within ICT), Leadership in SME (initiatives by tech companies to bridge the digital gender divide), and Research (initiatives prioritizing research on gender digital divides and producing reliable evidence to tackle diversity issues within STEM and computing fields).

In 2022, EQUALS launched the Special Recognition Partner Award to highlight the work of its partners. The deadline for nominations is 3 September 2023, and winners will be announced at a ceremony later in the year. The EQUALS in Tech Awards are presented by the EQUALS Global Partnership, a network of 100+ NGOs, private companies, international organizations, and research institutions, co-founded by the ITU, UN Women, International Trade Centre, GSMA, and United Nations University.
