Celebrating 80 Years of FAO: A Photo Exhibition at the Queen’s Gallery in Brussels
From October 8 to 22, Brussels is hosting a special FAO Photo Exhibition at the prestigious Queen’s Gallery, part of the Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries.
Set in one of Brussels’ most iconic landmarks, the exhibition is part of FAO’s 80th anniversary and World Food Day celebrations. It’s an opportunity to honor the people and partnerships that have helped shape a more sustainable and food-secure future.
Come by and discover how FAO’s work has evolved over the decades. The exhibition is free and open to all. Visitors are invited to explore FAO’s story through photographs from all over the world that capture key moments from the past 80 years, from food programmes and emergency responses to long-term efforts in building resilience and promoting global solidarity.
Brussels’ Manneken-Pis Joins FAO’s 80-Year Anniversary
On October 15, Brussels’ iconic Manneken-Pis will wear a new costume with a global message. To mark FAO’s 80th anniversary, the little statue will be dressed as an FAO field expert, celebrating the dedication of those working on the front lines of food security around the world.
This tradition of dressing Manneken-Pis dates back centuries and continues to reflect Brussels’ rich cultural heritage.
The costume, specially designed for the occasion, reflects the everyday attire of field staff who help communities grow, recover, and thrive. It will be officially unveiled during a ceremony at the Brussels City Hall, before joining the statue’s legendary wardrobe of over 1,000 outfits.
World Food Week 2025 at the Musée bruxellois du Moulin et de l’Alimentation
To mark the 80th anniversary of FAO, the Musée bruxellois du Moulin et de l’Alimentation / Brussels Museum van de Molen en de Voeding (Brussels, Belgium) is joining the celebrations of World Food Week 2025. Throughout the week, the museum will be adorned with World Food Day banners, highlighting this year’s theme on the urgent challenges of global food security and sustainable agriculture.
This initiative, organized in partnership with the FAO Liaison Office in Brussels, aims to bring vital food issues closer to the public while reflecting the museum’s enduring mission to preserve and share food traditions in Belgium and beyond.
