The UN Office for Disarmament Affairs’ Youth4Disarmament, with the support from the Government of Kazakhstan, has launched the annual #StepUp4Disarmament Challenge this week.
They are calling on young people to #StepUp4Disarmament by either completing 8.29 km or tracking 10.9k steps (an approximate equivalent) to mark the International Day against Nuclear Tests on 29 August 2025 and raise awareness on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear explosions. The Challenge is part of the Not One Nuclear Explosion – N.O.N.E. Campaign.
#StepUp4Disarmament challenge in a nutshell:
- Complete a distance of 8.29 km (or 10.9k steps) including by running, walking, biking, wheelchair, or an equivalent means.
- Track and share your progress in the free Pacer App. You can also use tracking app/smart watch of your choice.
- The Challenge is on-going from 16 July to 29 August – you can participate at any point during this time.
- Once you have completed the Challenge, share on your social media channels – remember to tag @youth4disarmament!
We welcome everyone to participate and to utilize this opportunity to combine a great cause (raising awareness on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons) while taking part in healthy activities.
