Deadline: 30 July 2023

The UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science 2023, funded since 1951 by Mr. Bijoyanand Patnaik of the Kalinga Foundation Trust, is now open for applications. This significant honor is for individuals, institutions, NGOs, and other entities who’ve notably popularized science and technology, bridging the gap between science and society through various forms of communication.

Open to Central American Integration System (SICA) candidates, the prize encourages those committed to science communication, driving public welfare, and developing innovative solutions. Nominations must be government-endorsed or supported by an NGO partnered with UNESCO; self-nominations lacking endorsement won’t be considered. The prize includes a $40,000 cash award, a UNESCO-Albert Einstein silver medal, and the Kalinga Chair established by the Government of India, which features a certificate and an additional $5,000. The laureate will also journey to India for 2-4 weeks, interacting with Indian scientists, communicators, and culture.

Applications, to be submitted by July 30, 2023, can be accessed via the UNESCO Kalinga Prize official website.
