On Wednesday 19 July, at 15:00 Rome Time (CEST), representatives of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, the Rome-based UN Agencies (FAO, IFAD, WFP) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a background brief to the press on the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) at FAO Headquarters. The  background brief will be in English and will take place in hybrid form: to follow the event virtually please register here, to follow in person, please contact: [email protected].More than 1200 participants from 161 Countries, including 19 Heads of States/Governments and 100 Minister level delegates and more than 450 Non-state Actor (NSA) delegates will attend the event-taking place at FAO Headquarters in Rome on 24-26 of July.The high-level event will build on the momentum of the 2021 Food Systems Summit and will create a conducive space for countries to review progress on commitments to action and identify successes, enduring bottlenecks and priorities in order to close the implementation gap for food systems transformation.The three-day meeting will further highlight the central role of food systems transformations in overall advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals ahead of the SDG Summit in September 2023, and advocate for urgent action at scale, building on the latest evidence that sustainable food systems contribute to better and more sustainable outcomes for people, planet and prosperity leaving no one behind.The Summit will include a high-level opening segment, three high-level-sessions during the opening day, four plenary sessions, several leadership dialogues, special events and side events, as well as a high-level closing session.The high-level opening ceremony will take place on 24 July at 14:30 CEST and will see the participation of the Prime Minister of Italy, the Director-General of FAO, the President of IFAD, the Executive Director of WFP and a group of Heads of States and governments.If you wish to attend the UN Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) in person, please contact[email protected].
