How can agrifood systems help unlock progress across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and what partnerships are needed to accelerate action in the final years of the 2030 Agenda?
Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) at the SDG Forum 2026, this interactive in-person only session will explore how agrifood systems transformation can drive progress across the SDGs while delivering tangible benefits for people, communities and the planet.
The discussion will highlight the central role of agrifood systems in addressing interconnected challenges related to food security, nutrition, water, energy, innovation, sustainable cities, climate action, biodiversity and livelihoods. Drawing on FAO’s publication FAO and the SDGs – Accelerating transformation through the four betters, speakers will showcase practical experiences, innovative solutions and partnership opportunities that can help accelerate sustainable development before 2030.
The event will bring together representatives from FAO, Belgian institutions, civil society, academia and other stakeholders to exchange perspectives on solutions, remaining challenges and opportunities for collaboration. The discussion will also look ahead to the future of sustainable development beyond 2030 and the role of agrifood systems in shaping the next generation of global development priorities.
