UNIDO presents the Global Alliance on Responsible and Green Minerals at the European Economic and Social Committee

On the invitation of Mr Pietro Francesco De Lotto, President of the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI), Mr Christophe Yvetot participated at the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) of the European Economic and Social Committee on 22 February. He shared his insights on the topic of the Critical Raw Material Act: state of play, challenges, and opportunities. During his presentation, he emphasized UNIDO’s role in expediting innovation within the critical minerals sector by facilitating technology and knowledge transfer. This involves fostering innovation across various stages, including mining operations, processing, utilization, and recovery of critical minerals essential for the green transition. Mr Yvetot’s intervention shed light on the potential of the Critical Raw Material Act in establishing a mutually advantageous partnership between the EU and developing nations. He said, “Through the CRM Act, there exists an opportunity to enhance the manufacturing value added of African countries by supporting local production.”
